My Friday Listening

My Friday listening is pretty much this!
Have a listen and make up your mind, yay or nay?! I think you'll <3 it.

Last year's Blockfest.
Eating ice cream and making sure my hat is where it is supposed to be.
The crowd is waiting for Cheek.

tbt (27.8.2015)

I've been to lots of gigs this summer (and fall).
Last Saturday I got to see Cheek. It's not really my kind of music but I did like the show with the fireworks and all...

Selfie (going for #punk #look)

This was (nearly) my look for the gig that I went to on Saturday.
By "nearly" I mean that there were some changes - I wasn't too happy with my hair and so on...

We went to see this band called Juustopäät. It was so cool - seeing them for the very first time. I mean I was first introduced to Juustopäät in, like, 1995. But since I spent my childhood, um, in the middle of nowhere I never saw them playing. Kinda. Sorta.

My Music, My Jukebox: Ash

I was studying in Uppsala, Sweden, back in 2002. Seeing Ash at Göta Källare in Stockholm was a must. I was all prepared: tickets, my friend, my camera with an empty roll of film... So, when the gig started I was all ready. But suddenly my Ixus died. It didn't work, it just was n_o_t working. So I've got only a handful of photos from that gig which pretty much sucks.

But, later we got to meet the band. And had some drinks. And I guess that the, um, after-party was at Gondolen. But any way, I had so much fun.

I chose here two songs from my favorite Irish band (and, yeah, I know U2 is also local): Petrol (released as the second single from their 1994 album Trailer) and Oh Yeah (taken from their album 1977 released in 1996).

I've got quite a collection...
Mark Hamilton (bass, synthesizer)
Tim Wheeler (lead vocals, lead guitar, keyboards)
I had the setlist framed

"I sometimes wish it was that summer again
I still see her in my sleep
And hear the sighing of the summer wind
Still I don't regret one thing"

Ash: Oh Yeah

Yesterday I wrote about one of my favorite bands, Backyard Babies.
This photo was taken at that gig that I went to some years back.
It looks like I'm having a drink.
Maybe next time you see me eating something.
Cheers!

My Music, My Jukebox: Backyard Babies

Here's my second post on "my music, my jukebox". My life hasn't gone any calmer with the horses, work and "stuff" but am still trying to keep up with my promise.

I don't even remember how many years back I got this home burnt cd from a friend. It was my first introduction to the Backyard Babies. And what can I say?! I immediately felt connected with the music and that rock star way of living. True rock stars! It was a couple of years ago that I saw the Babies here in Tampere. After that they got concentrated on their side projects; Nicke Borg on his solo material and his radio show; and Dregen went on to play with Michael Monroe and eventually started working on his own solo album. But last year it was announced that the Babies will work on new music. They have also announced that their 2015 tour will kick of at Sweden Rock Festical in Sölvesborg, Sweden. A month later they will play at Ruisrock in Turku. I'll be there.

So happy to be able to wear my Backyard Babies t-shirt once again. It's not like I couldn't wear it on a daily basis. I just don't want. It's too much of a dear memory. That t-shirt.

ps Backyard Babies also come from Sweden...

I chose here two songs: Roads (taken from their album People Like People Like People Like Us released in 2006) and Say When (taken from their album Stockholm Syndrome released in 2003). Have a listen and make up your own mind!

Because life is a road that is winding and dark
But I swear 'cross my heart so are you
Life is a road that is winding and dark
But I swear 'cross my heart so are you
Now you know it's true I believe in you
Yeah you  know it's true I do care for you

Backyard Babies: Roads

ps if I was a rock star I would definitely play guitar. Just  like Nicke Borg.

My No. 1 Plan for Tonight

I'll be getting some more #shit tonight. Third time is a charm!
Me luckey!

"I said uuuu, I'm a rebel in the dark.
I said uuuu, and this is how I've been since I was born.
Uuuu, I'm not a devil, not a god.
I said uuuu, I'm just a rebel in the dark."

As you can see I'm having hard time stretching my legs. And, yes, I know I should finish my training with some stretching but, um, I don't like it. And, yes, I know I should start my training with some stretching but, um, I don't like it. For as long as I reach the floor with my palms (having my legs straight) I'm happy. Other than that... #youcandoit

Sparzanza (#southparktre, 6.6.2014)

So, my festival mood got started with Doom Unit.
Right after Doom Unit it was time to cherish some serious metal, in the name of Sparzanza.

Sparzanza comes from Sweden, and was founded in 1996. According to their official Facebook site
"Sparzanza is one of the Swedens best metal bands (---) and have toured all over Europe and released several albums that have made success". It's definitely one of my boy band crushes!

I just love the combo of a man and his Marshall.

Doom Unit (#southparktre, 6.6.2014)

My festival season got started this Friday.
I haven't gone to a festival in years which is pretty bummed. I mean I'm like one of those typical festival-goers who love seeing her (his) favorite bands plus becoming acquaint with to be favorites.
To be honest I did tell my friend to make (sic) me go if I get doubts (if I decide to stay home instead). It was just a precaution.
And I didn't stay at home.

My festival mood got started with Doom Unit. It's just pure Finnish heavy metal. Doom Unit was formed in 2008 in Tampere which makes it local. Doom Unit released its first studio album in 2009, it's called Cross the Line.

At one point of the gig Johan Carlsson from the Doom Unit's fellow Swedish heavy metal band Sparzanza played the bass.

It's me and the twins.
The twins that I met at a heavy rock festival a couple of years ago. I'll be going there this year, also. The twins didn't think it was heavy enough.
So, for the next two days (starting on Friday) I'll be listening to some old tunes, can't wait!

Gosh!
I didn't get too much of sleep last night but still wanted to get you all into my #tbt.
And it doesn't go too far in the history but last night!
