Happy Easter!

Easter's like a Halloween to us Finns. Kids dress up in rags, too-big skirts, and scarves to look like witches. Then they go door to door with a copper kettle and catkins looking for treats.

We have Easter fires (pictured here) to scare the witches away: An old belief tells that witches fly to a German mountain the Thursday before Easter to cavort with Satan. On their way back we light fires and hope that the witches go away. (www.time.com)

Quite scary, isn't it? I hope that we really did scare them off this time..

ja anna se jollekin, josta välität.

Olin aamulla matkalla heppatunnille, kun katseeni kiinnittyi varsin eriskummalliseen asiaan.
Sähkökaappiin oli nimittäin liimattu teos, jossa kehotettiin "ottamaan sydän ja antamaan se jollekin, josta välität". Tätä sanomaa oli tehostettu askartelemalla arkin alareunaan - sanomasta päätellen - sydämiä, jotka olivat ohikulkijoiden vapaasti otettavissa. Harmikseni "revi tästä"-käsky oli käynyt, toden totta, toteen, eikä sydämiä ollut enää minun jakaa välittämilleni joillekin.

I found this poster this morning glued onto some sort of an electric box. It says "take a heart and give it to someone you care". And, obviously, there were hearts drawn on to the poster but they were all thorn out. I like this idea, a lot! Have a heart, and give to someone you care!

Dogs' Play

Dogs' play may seem rather rough at times. But, at the same time, it seems like dogs know their roles in the play. When one finds something more interesting, it just takes off. This happened yesterday. Ukko was playing with one of his gfs, Nana. Nana is a 3-year-old boxer, full of speed and crazy jumps in the air. When they first met, it was just love at first sight!

Ukko likes to pull stuff. I mean he's got this magnetic skill of always finding something to pull - sticks,branches, toys - you name it. And he loves to wrestle, with you.

Nana on hra Ukon nuorikko, kolmevuotias bokserineiti. Kun Nana oli vielä pentu, Ukon leikit vaikuttivat liian rajuilta. Ukko näet tykkää vähän rajummista leikeistä - vetämisestä, painimisesta, pallojen hakemisesta (ja vähän uimisestakin). Nyt, muutaman vuoden ja erinäisten tapaamisten jälkeen, Nana on päässyt jyvälle Ukon leikeistä ja antaa hyvän vastuksen koirakaverilleen. Kaverukset saattavat leikkiä keskenään tunteja: vetää, juosta, vetää, juosta... nim. jäätyneet varpaat

International Women's Day is marked 8th March every year. The United Nations (UN) has a theme for each year, and the theme for this year is "A promise is a promise. Time for action to end violence against women".

Holy Lightning! (vol. 1)

I'm a bit late on this but I've been sick. I had an awful stomach bug.

The Killers gig was totally awesome! It's not worth describing it, I just cannot find the right words to make justice... Instead of taking photos of the band (sic) I tried to capture t h e most amazing lightning I've like ever seen. It was just a pure lightning show! Photos are not in any particular order (I accidentally mixed it).
