Yesterday I was driving all the way to Ulvila.
Had a business meeting there (fyi).
I think that I was out of my comfort zone in, for at least, to ways.
First, I was driving a car.
Second, I was listening to some random radio stations.
But, looking back, everything went just ok. I didn't smash the car and I heard this song.
You should have seen me tapping the wheel and singing along (even though I didn't know the lyrics, yet). Have a listen, Punaisessa talossa.
I've been to lots of gigs this summer (and fall).
Last Saturday I got to see Cheek. It's not really my kind of music but I did like the show with the fireworks and all...
This was (nearly) my look for the gig that I went to on Saturday.
By "nearly" I mean that there were some changes - I wasn't too happy with my hair and so on...
We went to see this band called Juustopäät. It was so cool - seeing them for the very first time. I mean I was first introduced to Juustopäät in, like, 1995. But since I spent my childhood, um, in the middle of nowhere I never saw them playing. Kinda. Sorta.
I was studying in Uppsala, Sweden, back in 2002. Seeing Ash at Göta Källare in Stockholm was a must. I was all prepared: tickets, my friend, my camera with an empty roll of film... So, when the gig started I was all ready. But suddenly my Ixus died. It didn't work, it just was n_o_t working. So I've got only a handful of photos from that gig which pretty much sucks.
But, later we got to meet the band. And had some drinks. And I guess that the, um, after-party was at Gondolen. But any way, I had so much fun.
I chose here two songs from my favorite Irish band (and, yeah, I know U2 is also local): Petrol (released as the second single from their 1994 album Trailer) and Oh Yeah (taken from their album 1977 released in 1996).
Yesterday I wrote about one of my favorite bands, Backyard Babies.
This photo was taken at that gig that I went to some years back.
It looks like I'm having a drink.
Maybe next time you see me eating something.
Cheers!
Kippis!
Skål!
Pohojammaan kautta!
Hölökyn kölökyn!
Here's my second post on "my music, my jukebox". My life hasn't gone any calmer with the horses, work and "stuff" but am still trying to keep up with my promise.
I don't even remember how many years back I got this home burnt cd from a friend. It was my first introduction to the Backyard Babies. And what can I say?! I immediately felt connected with the music and that rock star way of living. True rock stars! It was a couple of years ago that I saw the Babies here in Tampere. After that they got concentrated on their side projects; Nicke Borg on his solo material and his radio show; and Dregen went on to play with Michael Monroe and eventually started working on his own solo album. But last year it was announced that the Babies will work on new music. They have also announced that their 2015 tour will kick of at Sweden Rock Festical in Sölvesborg, Sweden. A month later they will play at Ruisrock in Turku. I'll be there.
So happy to be able to wear my Backyard Babies t-shirt once again. It's not like I couldn't wear it on a daily basis. I just don't want. It's too much of a dear memory. That t-shirt.
ps Backyard Babies also come from Sweden...
I chose here two songs: Roads (taken from their album People Like People Like People Like Us released in 2006) and Say When (taken from their album Stockholm Syndrome released in 2003). Have a listen and make up your own mind!
Because life is a road that is winding and dark
But I swear 'cross my heart so are you
Life is a road that is winding and dark
But I swear 'cross my heart so are you
Now you know it's true I believe in you
Yeah you know it's true I do care for you
Backyard Babies: Roads
ps if I was a rock star I would definitely play guitar. Just like Nicke Borg.
